Vintage Scarves: How to Wrap, Tie, & Wear

Accenting your ensemble with colorful vintage scarves is an easy way to bring your look to a new level.   Personally I have been collecting unusual scarves for decades, and in a future post I will reveal a sneak peak of my archive.  I’m obsessed with Emilio Pucci, United States Souvenir scarves, and bold 1940s novelty prints.  In the boutique we carry vintage scarves that range in age from the 1920s through the 1980s. Some neckwear we sell is by respected designers like Echo, Hermés,  and Vera. Other swatches of silk loveliness have delicate hand rolled edges, carefully placed prints, and no name to help us identify the creator.  But how do you start to integrate scarves into your wardrobe?  Don’t be afraid to mix a striped scarf with a floral fit and flare dress.  Especially in the warmer months, whimsy and contrast is your friend.

The easiest of ways is to tie one onto a purse handle, or use is as a belt.   Some iconic fashionistas were often seen wearing scarves around their hair or neck, people like Bridget Bardot, Jackie Kennedy, and of course Thelma and Louise. But how did they achieve their styled looks that also had a function?  Although there are hundreds of ways to tie vintage scarf we made a quick video to illustrate a few of my favorite ways with different size and shape pieces.
